My name is Alina. I am a 31-year-old mother of 2 beautiful children, from the United States, and has stage 4 FL. I was diagnosed 2023.
The moment I found out I was diagnosed with FL, I was alone in the Emergency Department and although it’s a blur now, I remember wanting to scream, cry, and throw up all at the same time, but I couldn’t make a sound as I was in shock.

My entire world revolves around my children, and the most challenging experience so far has been making sure they were kept safe from the scary C word.
My entire world revolves around my children, and the most challenging experience so far has been making sure they were kept safe from the scary C word. Nothing has been more important to me, as a mom, than making sure their lives wouldn’t change while I went through treatment. Even when I felt like I was falling apart, my priority was making sure they thought mommy was okay.
If I can offer support or guidance to others in the FL community, the one thing I would want to share is never to give up hope. It is imperative to adopt a positive mindset so that you can continue to live your life with intention, even during the toughest battles.
